The Salmon Run

A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to go on my first salmon fishing expedition. I was not prepared for the awesome sight of 25 pound salmon swimming upstream in a small stream. The back and tail of the fish actually stuck out of the water. Salmon are on a pursuit to lay their eggs in the very waters where they were born. This instinctive pilgimage is called the salmon run. The persistance and raw fight of a salmon making its way upstream is a great picture of the Christian life. Keeping the goal of finishing in sight will require persitance, fight and determination. May the Lord help us to make a Christian run until we reach our destination. Jesus answered, I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit," (John 3:5).
