A Special Valentine's Day

Today, I had the opportunity to attend the funeral service of Pastor Rodger Berkey. Even though the ice covered roads made traveling treacherous, I just had to go and honor a good friend who packed a lot of love for God and for others in his 52 years of life. His legacy was evident in the lives of his family, congregation and friends. The most moving moment was watching his wife Renee worship Jesus with all her heart as her husband lay in the front of the church on Valentine's Day of all days. Pastor Steve Tourville clearly communicated that Jesus will never leave us even though loved ones may. Seeing a newly, widowed woman of God love the Lord made this Valentine's day very special.

Instant Results

This past Friday, we hit our church daycare registration goal. When we opened 2 1/2 months ago, we were hoping to open with the number that we just reached. Too often, we look for instant results without having to expend much effort. This realized goal was a direct result of an entire church praying, many interviews with parents by our daycare director and excellent childcare from our daycare employees every day for the last 2 1/2 months. Instant results would be great but when the results come because of God's help and our perserverance we tend to give more glory to God. Whether the results are instant or incremental may we always give God the glory. As the songwriter penned: "To God be the glory great things He has done."
